Youth Challenge is a tremendous supporter of our community and our Rotary Club. Each year, we pay them bck through hard work cleaning out their transport vans.

About: Nicole Donnelly is the Executive Director at the Morgan Art of Papermaking Conservatory & Educational Foundation since June 2023.

She is a visual artist, entrepreneur, arts administrator, and educator from Philadelphia, PA. She taught hand papermaking at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the University of the Arts, and was the Collaborative Papermaker for the Brodsky Center at PAFA (2019-2023). In 2013, she founded paperTHINKtank, a community hand papermaking studio, which continues its work in Philadelphia. She served as President of IAPMA (International Association of Hand Papermakers and Paper Artists), 2015-2022, is an active member of North American Hand Papermakers, and her writing has been published by The Legacy Press, Hand Papermaking magazine, and more. She is a core organizer of the Hand Papermakers' Archive & Database project. She studied papermaking with Timothy Barrett at the University of Iowa, fell in love with the process, and hasn’t looked back. Her artwork is focused on the environmentally sustainable possibilities and beauty of handmade paper.

Work history includes the following titles & duties: adjunct professor; after-school art teacher; web designer and developer; database developer and manager for a private art collection; digital fine art printing; documentation and digital archiving of original artwork; production manager for a small commercial art group; fine art framing; etc.

Wisdom will be joining our meeting to personally thank us for supporting the 2025 WA PeaceJam Slam conference. He will also share outcomes and highlights from the conference. Wisdom is a joy to have visit so don't miss this meeting! 

We are planning a group training session on May 6th during our regular Rotary meeting.

Those of you who have laptops, please bring them so we can help those who are technology-challenged complete the training session.

There will not be a club meeting due to the Westlake Community Center Over 90 Birthday Luncheon. 

Service project:  Rehab a large garden space for Footpath Foundation.  We will need to paint/stain over 20 4'x4' x7' posts, 2" x 6" baseboards, rehang fencing between posts, install a gate into the garden and build a ramp.

Work will begin at 8:00 am.  Painting, ramp, and gate will be done in the morning.  Break for lunch.  Install fence in the afternoon.

Come for the entire day or just an hour or two!  Whatever you can do would be helpful.

The Haven Home provides transitional housing for pregnant women and women with children 5 and under who are experiencing homelessness.

Terri and Gene will provide us with a synopsis of their trip to Taipei, Taiwan. We will learn about the RI year ahead, ideas our club may want to embrace, and how much fun they had! 

Our club is sponsoring Jaden at the World Affairs Seminar in Wisconsin.  The theme of the conference is Uniting for Peace and is being held June 20 - 26, 2026. 

YC is celebrating thier 50^th birthday on August 8 in their facility and parking lot on 800 Sharon Drive in Westlake. It’s a huge party, reunion, and homecoming and we are so excited to see family and friends form generations of YC.

They have reached out and asked for help. Specifically, they are looking for 6-8 people who can help with food prep and service that evening. They need an efficient crew to keep a well-stocked buffet line and some grill masters who can handle burgers and hot dogs.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Todd spent over 15 years as a public school teacher and local union representative in Cleveland, where he fiercely advocated for youth development, workers' rights, and educational accessibility. Within the Westlake community, he has been a deeply involved neighbor—serving local schools, volunteering with veteran organizations, and coaching youth athletic programs.

At City Hall, Councilman LeVeck serves on the Public Grounds, Sanitation, and Service & Streets committees, focusing on infrastructure, strong neighborhoods, and community development. Dr. Kyle MacMillan, PT, DPT is a physical therapist and the owner of Bridge Rehab and Performance in Westlake. He earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from The Ohio State University and has been passionate about movement, injury prevention, and rehabilitation since high school.
