For those unable to attend today’s meeting, we had a lot of good information disbursed. There was a total of 15 people meeting in person or on the zoom call, including Scott Latiolais from Tri-C, who attended his third meeting and Lisa Herbert, who attended her first meeting.
Our speakers today were Abbe Szabo and Celena Vasquez from Providence House. Providence House is a non-profit organization located on the near west side of Cleveland that provides an alternative to foster care for at-risk children by providing for their physical, emotional, developmental, and educational needs. They support families through crisis by connecting them to resources, cultivating nurturing practices, and encouraging responsibility. They also strengthen communities by advocating for underserved families and demonstrating the lasting impact of prevention.
Providence House serves children from newborns up to age 12, and children may stay for up to 90 days. They help approximately 350 children per year, with and average of 25 at any one time. They work with over 130 community agencies and partners and will be expanding to the east side with an expected opening in January of 2023.
