The Star Camp is in its 15th year of providing summer day camp activities and learning opportunities for children with disabilities from pre-school through early adulthood. The camp is held in the Independence public park system from July 10th thru 31st and includes 4 different schools by age group. The schools include 3 -5 year olds, 6-12; 13- 22 and new this year is an alumni camp for young adults 22 and over.
The camp employs professionals to address unique disability needs and is focused on both a learning and playing experience for 240-250 each summer. The camp follows state of Ohio guidelines, and works with the Autism Society and developmental and disability non-profits groups. The Camp is a non-profit and relies on donations in order to provide programming, hire professionals and provide scholarships for children who do not have the resources for camp tuition.
