For those unable to attend last week's meeting, we had a lot of good information disbursed. There was a total of 22 people meeting in person or on the zoom call, including our speaker, Dr. Matthew Mills, his mother, Mary Lou Mills, and two of his aunts, Janet Feldman and Rose Jenne. Also in attendance were Scott Latiolais from Tri-C and Mary Beth Whelan, both prospective members for our club.
Dr. Matthew Mills, who is the nephew of our own Joe Hudak and Rose Jenne, gave a wonderful talk on Winning the Fight with Light. The presentation was in Power Point and was given in terms any lay person could understand. It centered on electro-optics, and how lasers are being used in defense and even in controlling the weather. Dr. Mills works for Lockheed Martin in Orlando, and stressed how important it is that we encourage today’s younger generation to become interested in the sciences.
Terri announced that our exchange student, Onyx Wacker, arrived safely in Ecuador after some travel delays. We look forward to hearing from her and wish her the best in her studies abroad.
Gary reported that we are approaching 100 golfers for our October golf outing.
