We had a Board meeting last week, with an excellent presentation from two of our Westlake students who attended the RYLA workshop at Baldwin Wallace University. They made a great presentation on their daily events, and thanked Rotary for allowing them to take part in this outstanding event. Thank you to Mr. Kraft for his participation in this event.
Terri addressed Board Business, including the following:
Art Fest: July 29, 2023
- Joe Kraft reported that the Art Fest events are coming together and there will be another committee meeting on Thursday, July 13, at 6:00 p.m. at the Elks Club on Center Ridge Road. He reminded all members that the Art Festival is an “all hands on deck” participation opportunity for our club.
- Jeff Appel reported that he has organized the volunteers into three event activities. Jeff went over the sign-in sheet for the following.
- Pre-event - will support lawn sign distribution in Bay Village and Westlake and help with the feature artist tent set up and night before activities.
- Morning of - Consist of 5 teams with rotary captains working with high school volunteers assisting artist set up – supporting library staff – working with loading and unloading Gators and hand carts
- Post event – assisting artists and library staff with tent take downs, ushering people to cars and removing lawn signs in Bay Village and Westlake.
- Jeff has a sign up sheet for rotary members to volunteer in event activities from early morning and through out the day.
Installation Dinner: Amy Kubacki did a great job of organizing the Installation Dinner for the new incoming officers and Board at Arrabiata's in Bay Village last Monday. The event was also attended by our outgoing Rotary Governor, David Jones, who swore-in our new officers and Board for the 2023-24 Rotary year.
Rotary International: We were able to meet our goal of 100% participation in the Rotary contributions for the past Rotary year, in which Terri had a goal of 100% participation.
RYLA: Joe Kraft reminded everyone that Rotary Youth Leadership Awards – would be June 11 thru June 15 with a banquet reception on June 15th. He also advised that the scholarships from our club would be awarded to students on June 22.
Thank you Terri - Thank you to now Past-President Terri Speck, seen at the right in Australia for an amazing job as President. You did a fantastic job of raising the bar for what the Westlake Bay Village Rotary Club can do and is all about. Thank you again Terri for your service.
