Terri called for committee reports:
Donations: A Bay Village Girl Scout troupe had sent an email asking for support towards funding for their upcoming service project trip to Costa Rica. They need to raise $2000. It was suggested that they speak to the club next week to give us more information before a motion is considered.
Membership: Amy advised that Tiffany Cipollone should attend her third meeting next week, and then submit her application to join the club.
Service Projects:
Amy will reach out to Ronald McDonald House to schedule a date when we can go to serve dinner.
Need to Host a Student: Terri reminder everyone that since our chapter sent a student overseas, we would need to host a foreign exchange student. She will reach out to Onyx Wacker’s family and Audrey Kirkland’s family for suggestions of potential families, and also to see if they are willing to host. Audrey is our outbound student for 2023-2024 and will be studying in Italy.
Old Business:
There was an Art Festival meeting last evening, and efforts to get newer members involved were discussed. Andrew reported that we are nearing 50 artists. The festival will be held July 29th.
The District Conference is April 28-29. Terri will attend the dinner on Saturday night and will host the Kirkland family as Audrey will be receiving her exchange student jacket at the dinner.
New Business:
The application period for submitting grant projects for a District Grant ends May 15th. Terri is asking all Rotarians to think about potential projects that may qualify. Mark suggested contacting the Eagle Scouts as they are always looking for funding for their service projects and may be able to partner with us to qualify for the grant.
Visiting Rotarian and former club member Mark Musial reported that he has been storing many of our club’s items in his building, and that he has recently sold said building and needs to move our items, including all of our reverse raffle equipment. Pat moved and Andrew second that we donate the reverse raffle equipment to the Vermilion Rotary Club, Mark’s current club, with the caveat that if we decide to hold another raffle for our club, the equipment would be available for us to use. Motion carried.
Terri reported that the next Cluster project is to send optometry equipment to support need in Ukraine. More details will be forthcoming.
