The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its monthly Board meeting November 30, 2022, both in person and via Zoom Conference. 

 

In Attendance: President Terri Speck, Pat Graham, Amy Kubacki, Bob Maver, Jim Strunk, Joe Hudak, Michael O’Donnell, Andrew Mangels, and Doug Lawton. Also in attendance were, Patty Zinn,  Tim Smith, Lisa Hebert, Lucy Bilik-Hill, Ray Glinka, Marybeth Whelan, Scott Latiolais, and Kevin Krantz. A quorum was present.

 

Secretary’s Report: Jim moved, and Amy seconded to approve minutes from the October board meeting.   The motion carried.

 

Treasurers report: Jim provided the Treasurer’s report. Andrew moved and Michael seconded to approve the reports. Motion carried.

 

Donation Committee:  Pat moved, and Michael seconded that we purchase a brick in the new pavilion at the library. Motion carried with Andrew abstaining.

 

Membership Committee: Amy reported that she is working on the one-page brochure to promote the club. Samples were passed around. Amy is also reaching out to members who have been inactive to learn of their intentions.

 

Program Committee: Joe reported that we are booking speakers into next year. We already have a speaker booked in April.

 

Old Business:  We are delivering 2500 diapers to Providence House today’s meeting. Thanks to all who donated for this project.

There are still district grant funds available. Applications must be submitted before 12-19.

 

New Business: We have an outbound exchange student, Audrey Kirkland for 2023. We need to secure host families for inbound students. Bob will check with Westlake schools, and Jim will talk to Bay schools about potential host families.

 

Jim will speak next week about donations to the Rotary foundation. Donations need to be made before year end to deduct this year.

 

We will have a wrap party at the library Wednesday, 12-7, at 6 pm. To wrap the gifts for the needy families.

 

Terri, Jim, and Bob will meet to formulate the Corley budget to be approved at our next meeting.

 

The Rotary signs throughout the city still show our meetings at Westwood CC. Michael will work with the city to have them removed.

 

 

 

Officer and board member elections are coming up this month.  If any Westlake-Bay Village Rotarian is interested in a board position or office, let Terri know.  We do have one nomination for President Elect for the 2023-24 year.
