The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its weekly Wednesday meeting on January 21, 2026. The meeting was a hybrid meeting with 18 participants meeting via zoom and in person at Westlake Porter
Public Library. President Amy Kubacki called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m., began with a prayer and meditation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test. Amy welcomed all our guests.

Amy put forth a motion to accept the applications of the four new members. The new members are Glen, Brian, Shane, and Gary. Joe Craft approved the motion. Andrew seconded it, and it was passed by unanimous vote. Andrew Mangels will swear the new members in on January 28.

Rachel reminded us about the upcoming food bank volunteer opportunity on 1/28 from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. So far, Rachel, Amy, Jeff, Lisa, and Bob Maber are all signed up. A sign-up sheet is available via Club Runner if anyone else would like to join.

Please check your email regarding the 2026 Peace Summit that is being held on February 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Andrew provided us an update on the Rotaract club meeting that he attended at Baldwin Wallace University. It is a college club with 17 members.

We discussed the four-way test that will be coming up in March, and if Kevin Walker would still be willing to sponsor our winning prizes. Jim Strunk was going to check on that for us.

Jeff Apple mentioned that he had bumped into Sarah Murphy, who was just promoted to the Executive Director of the of The Edna House. Congratulations to Sarah!

Amy introduced our guest speaker Carolyn Arny, the Director of Education and Training from the Collaborative to End Human Trafficking. The organization is based in Ohio City and was founded in 2007. They partner with over 75 organizations, including hospitals, banks, and bakeries, to bring awareness and support to those that might be experiencing any type of human trafficking. January is the Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and Carolyn pointed us to their website for toolkits that include training materials and other information about human trafficking. Joe Hudak reminded us that Ohio is ranked number 3 for human trafficking in the U.S. and number 5 for organ harvesting.

We had time for happy books, and Amy adjourned the meeting at 8:32 a.m.
