The November Board meeting of the Westlake-Bay Village Rotary Club was held on November 19, 2025. The meeting was called to order by President Amy Kubacki at 7:30, and began with the invocation, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the Four Way Test.

In Attendance: President Amy Kubacki, Pat Graham, Jim Strunk, Joe Hudak, Joe Kraft, Jeff Appel, Lisa Hebert, Patty Zinn, and Andrew Mangels. A quorum was present. Also in attendance were Steve Pettyjohn, Kevin Krantz, Terri Speck, Wayne Niemen, and Justin Hein.

  1. Treasurer’s Report: Jim reported that he transferred $10k from the Corley account to the club account. We have approximately $900 left in the membership request account for donations through the end of the year.
  2. Donation Committee: No new requests at this time.
  3. Speaker Committee: We are currently booked through the end of the year.
  4. Service Projects: Plans are well underway for this year’s Epiphany Project. We will need volunteers for organization on 12-29 and packing on 12-30. The distribution will take place at Holy Redeemer on January 7th . There have been conversations about doing something year-long to help those in need, rather than only doing the December project. More details will be explored after the first of the year.
  5. Membership Committee: The Pancakes and Possibilities hot breakfast meeting on December 3 rd will be our next meeting. All members are asked to think about who they can invite as a prospective member.

Old Business:

  • Andrew presented the proposed revised By-laws for everyone’s review. An electronic copy was also sent to the membership. Please submit any questions or comments to Andrew or the committee members, Kevin, Patty, Bob, and Rachel) prior to the December 3 rd meeting. We will be voting on the changes at that meeting and would like to keep discussions to a minimum as we have a full agenda for the membership meeting that morning.
  • Andrew re-introduced the proposed cluster project to purchase a new Toyota Hilux truck for the Omni group in Africa, which we have supported in the past. The Cluster has requested each club donate between $5000-$7000 towards this project. The Rocky River Noon Club, the Westshore Club, and the North Ridgeville Club have all committed to contribute $7500 each. The District has committed $20k, and Rotary  International will contribute $16k. There will be a fundraiser at a local sports bar which is anticipated to raise approximately $1000, leaving them about $4500 short of the necessary funds. After some discussion, our club has agreed to make up the shortfall up to $5000 to move the project forward.

New Business:

  • Our club was recognized as the #2 club in the District at the Rotary Foundation Gala for per capita giving to the Foundation. The margin between first and second place was very minimal, and we will strive to be #1 next year. Please consider making your donation to the Foundation before the end of the year.
  • We will all be required to complete the Youth Protection training again after the first of the year. It was suggested that we complete it as a group at a weekly meeting.

As there is no meeting next week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, we will continue our tradition of meeting at Mulligan’s in Avon for lunch and camaraderie. Lunch will begin around noon and continue as long as people want to stay.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35.
