Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village

The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its Annual meeting via Zoom on 12-1-20. The meeting was called to order by President Scott Goggin at 7:34 AM

In virtual attendance:
President Scott Goggin, Pat Graham, Andrew Mangels, Terri Speck, Joe Hudak, Jeff Appel, Michael O’Donnell, Joe Kraft, Herb Hoppe, Bob Maver, Jim Strunk, Tim Opsitnick, Kevin Krantz, Emiljano Citaku, Holly and Ray Glinka. Also, in attendance were our speaker, Deborah Wasylko and two prospective members, Patty Zinn and Joe Baker. A quorum was present.

Scott opened the meeting and welcomed everyone and thanked them for their attendance. He introduced our guests and led us in our prayer, the pledge and the four-way test.

Our guests were afforded a few minutes to tell us about themselves. Patty Zinn lives in Westlake and owns Micro Systems Management, a Westlake business helping clients with their system needs. Joe Baker is an Audiologist and just started his practice at the beginning of the pandemic. He is located on Crocker Rd. near the Bay Village border.

Scott then recognized Terri Speck who is receiving her pin as a Paul Harris Fellow x7. Congratulations to Terri and thank you for your very generous contributions.

The main purpose of our annual meeting is to elect directors for the upcoming Rotary year. Our directors serve two-year terms commencing on July 1st. The four people up for election have all agreed to serve another term. Andrew moved and Herb second that Jim Strunk, Mark Grimm, Doug Lawton and Joe Hudak be nominated to serve as Directors for the two-year term beginning 7-1-2021 and expiring 6-30-2023. President Goggin called for a vote and the candidates were unanimously approved. Congratulations and thank you for your willingness to serve.

We are in need of someone to step up and agree to be President-elect, to follow Ray Glinka’s term. Whoever volunteers would not take office until July of 2022, so there is plenty of time to learn and the support team is tremendous. Please do some soul searching and see if you are the right man or woman for the position.

We next heard a very inspiring presentation from our speaker. Deborah is a fellow Rotarian in the Brunswick club and is the owner of Baskets Galore. She told us of her background and the path that led her to her present position. It was a very interesting and informative presentation.

After everyone having an opportunity to share their happy thoughts, President Goggin adjourned the meeting at 8:33.
