Dr. Matthew S. Mills is a Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Optical Engineer with formal training in electromagnetics, physics, and mathematics (Ph.D & M.Sc., The College of Optics and Photonics, UCF, 2010-2015; B. Sc., Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 2006-2010). Defense industry core research and development efforts involve metamaterials, diffractive optics, wave propagation, nonlinear optics, and optimization/machine learning techniques. Prior to joining Lockheed Martin, Dr. Mills was a primary investigator for the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Air Force Research Laboratory (RXAP) at Wright Patterson AFB. While there, Dr. Mills conducted Commander Research Directed Funds with a portfolio totaling 6M USD per year. For his warfighter advances in the field of artificial intelligence and computational electromagnetics, Dr. Mills was recognized with the AFRL Charles J. Cleary Scientific Excellence Award and RX Director’s Team Award.
