The Rotary Club of Westlake-Bay Village held its monthly Board meeting April 28, 2021 via Zoom conference call. The meeting was called to order by President Scott Goggin at 7:37 AM

In virtual attendance:
President Scott Goggin, Pat Graham, Andrew Mangels, Terri Speck, Joe Hudak, Ray Glinka, Doug Lawton, Michael O’Donnell, Bob Maver, Jeff Appel, Mark Grimm, and Jim Strunk. Also, in attendance were Herb Hoppe, Joe Kraft, Patty Zinn, Kevin Krantz, Tim Smith, and Adam Sonnhalter.  A quorum was present.

Scott opened the meeting with a prayer, the pledge and the Four Way Test and welcomed everyone and thanked them for their attendance.

Secretary’s Report:  Jim moved and Michael second to approve the minutes of the March meeting. Motion carries.

Treasurer’s Report: There was no Treasurer’s report presented for March. Jim reported that we are nearing completion of all the documentation with the banks to effect the change to our new treasurer.

Donation Committee: Doug moved and Michael second that we make a $500 donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society to help defray the costs of the graphics on their new truck. The motion carried with Jim Strunk abstaining due to his affiliation with the Society.

Shoebox Project: Andrew reported that after our last meeting’s discussions, he researched the status of the boxes that were delivered last year. It was discovered that due to Covid and political unrest, the boxes have not yet been delivered. We have been told they should reach the children in August. The project is coordinated between the Hope and Relief Foundation in Texas and Foundation Nicaragua in Nicaragua. Those two Foundations have decided to not do the project this year and to resume next year once we know the boxes have been delivered. Kevin will notify the clubs that participate of this decision, thank them for the participation, and hope they will return next year. There was much discussion about what our club should do in lieu of Shoebox. Andrew and Adam will investigate the Rotary Heart 2 Heart project which is currently underway with zones in the Midwest and Mexico. Patty also suggested we participate with Trials of Hope in Cleveland. The club will investigate and discuss these options later.

There being no further business, Terri moved and Joe second to adjourn at 8:13.
