Over the years, Rotary Clubs in District 6630 have partnered with schools and offered an opportunity for high school students to develop critical thinking, ethical decision making, and public speaking skills. Feedback about this program from teachers, students, and parents has been consistently positive, with strengthened ties to the local community. The purpose of the 5 to 7-minute speech is to apply the principles of Rotary International’s 4-Way Test to a current ethical issue. Students are challenged to identify a topic they feel passionate about and to adopt a point of view from which they will seek to persuade others. In doing so they are required to evaluate their recommendation by answering the following questions: The Westlake - Bay Village Rotary Club Contest will take place on March 13, 2024. Outreach to the three highschools within our area is underway.

Jul. 27, 2024 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
This year, the Rotary Art Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 27, 2024, between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm. Dozens of artists will be participating this year. Food and drink will be available. Music is scheduled throughout the day. The Festival itself will be on the grounds just west of Westlake Porter Public Library. Parking will be next-door at Westlake Elementary School. Admission to the event is free to the public. The Rotary Art Festival is an event hosted by Westlake-Bay Village Rotary, part of Rotary International, a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in this community and ourselves. You can see us at work locally in many places, including Westlake City Schools, Bay Village Schools, Ames House – Hospice of the Western Reserve, Meals on Wheels, Milestones Autism Resources, STAR Camp, Best Buddies, the City of Westlake, Bay Village. The money raised from this festival goes directly back to the community for funding such things as kitchen equipment, college scholarships, assistance to those with special needs, and family dinners at Ames House. If you are an artist and would like to participate in the Rotary Art Festival, please see our online registration page. Contact Joe Kraft at josephkraft7@gmail.com if you have questions. |

Art Festival Wrap Up
Jul. 31, 2024 7:30 a.m.
This Wednesday's meeting will be primarily about breaking it down and hitting the higlights of what worked and what needed to be improved. This meeting always goes super fast so let's be careful about delving too deeply in the weeds. This is more about identifiying what we can do better. We will follow up with how we can do better in our 2025 planning meetings.
If you are not able to attend the meeting this Wednesday, please feel free to email me any comments, questions, or concerns. andrew.mangels@westlakelibrary.org
