DESCRIPTION:The Greater Cleveland Food Bank is recruiting volunteers to ass
ist at our Community Resource Center`s Healthy Choice Food Market! The GCF
B Community Resource Center`s Healthy Choice Food Market is a neighbor cho
ice food market which allows neighbors to select their own food instead of
receiving a pre-packed or standard bag of groceries. With this method\, n
eighbors do not have to take items they already have\, do not like\, or ca
nnot eat for health or personal reasons. Having the opportunity to choose
their own food gives the people being served a sense of dignity and contro
l\, limits waste\, and allows them to tailor the help they receive to be t
he best possible fit for their own unique situation. We encourage nudges o
r environmental cues to help neighbors select the healthiest food options
available. Each day\, volunteers help us serve hundreds of our neighbors a
t the market. Because of this\, volunteers interested at helping at the ma
rket should be comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Volunteer Duties Include: Assisting neighbors with shopping and item sele
ction in the market. Assisting neighbors with loading their vehicles with
food\, as needed.  Accepting retail product donations\, weighing product\
, and recording the donation. Organizing and consolidating product onto pa
llets and into bins to make product look presentable for neighbors. Consol
idating spoiled or damaged items for removal from the market. Removing exc
ess cardboard\, bins\, and boxes. Sweeping and mopping as needed. Assistin
g neighbors as needed. Volunteers must be 14 or older in order to particip
ate.  Volunteers are required to wear closed-toe/heel footwear for all of
our projects (NO CROCS\, SANDALS\, FLIP-FLOPS\, ETC). Additional Informat
ion: Volunteer Arrival Instructions Please note that it is important that
all volunteers arrive on time in order to allow us to serve our neighbors
